In every epoch, in every age
There are always a few who are hard to persuade
Through tested appeals to the usual fears
Of disapprobation by public and peers,
Who scorn propaganda and are able to see
With glasses untinted by the powers that be.
And in every epoch they are treated, of course,
Should they gain too much influence, with old-fashioned force.
