Creative Destruction?
by DCDave

From Ayden to Bunn to Zebulon,
The residents had no say.
What right had self-styled "progressives"
To take their high schools away?

In a town or in a community,
A high school is only a part,
But one does the body no favor
By cutting out the heart.

Oh, but the education
In the little schools was maligned,
But since the consolidations
Achievement has only declined.

This brave new social experiment
They claimed could do us no harm,
But the soulless center of "learning"
Has been our collective farm.
