Old Texas Saying?

                                                     Upon the stump in Tennessee,
                                           Someone we know once tried to say,
                                           "Fool me once, shame on you;
                                           Fool me twice, shame on me."
                                           Now that his war won't go away,
                                           That notion's coming back to me.
